Licensing FAQ¶
Answers to the most common questions about Hanergy licensing.
Does Hanergy work offline?¶
Yes, fully. After the initial one-time license activation (which requires internet to download the token), Hanergy operates entirely offline. The license token is cryptographically signed and validated locally on each startup. No internet connection is needed for day-to-day operation, sensor reading, or device control.
What happens when my update window expires?¶
Nothing changes for your existing setup. You keep using the last version of Hanergy that was released within your update window. No features are removed, no functionality is degraded, and the engine continues to manage your devices normally.
The only restriction: if you try to add new controllable devices beyond your tier limit after the update window closes, Hanergy will prompt you to renew. Existing devices and priorities continue to work indefinitely.
Can I transfer my license to another installation?¶
Licenses are bound to an installation ID that is generated when Hanergy first starts. If you move to a new Home Assistant installation, contact support@hanergy.app to have the license reassigned.
How do installers get special pricing?¶
Professional installers can apply through the installer program at cloud.hanergy.app. Approved installers receive exclusive pricing on all license tiers.
How do I upgrade from Free to Pro?¶
- Log in to your account at cloud.hanergy.app.
- Click "Buy Pro" and complete the payment.
- A new license token is generated.
- Copy the new token.
- In Hanergy, go to Settings > License, paste the new token, and click Activate.
The new tier takes effect immediately. Your device and priority limits are updated, and advanced features like simulation mode become available.
Can I downgrade?¶
There is no downgrade process. If your Pro license expires and you do not renew, Hanergy continues to operate with your existing configuration. You simply cannot add new devices or priorities beyond the free tier limits. No existing configuration is removed.
Do I need a license for each Home Assistant installation?¶
Yes. Each license token is bound to a single installation ID. If you run Hanergy on multiple HA instances (e.g., a primary home and a vacation home), each instance needs its own license.
What payment methods are accepted?¶
Payment is handled through the cloud.hanergy.app portal. Accepted methods include credit card and common European payment options. Check the portal for the latest available payment methods.
